It has been announced that a concert held by the rock band Kai Band, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in November, at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) in August 2016 will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW in February 2025. This concert is remembered as a live performance that recreates the legendary outdoor event "THE BIG GIG" held by the Kai Band in 1983 at Toyo No. 5 Site (currently the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building), surrounded by skyscrapers in the Shinjuku subcenter.
WOWOW has been running a special program on Kai Band since November, which will run for over a year. "Kai Band THE BIG GIG AGAIN 2016," scheduled to be broadcast and streamed in February next year, was held on August 7, 2016, 33 years after the outdoor concert held on August 7, 1983, at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall. The set list is the same as 33 years ago, with the following songs:
"Brighton Rock," "Dangerous Companions," "Telephone Neurosis," "Moonlight Prisoner," "Season," "GOLD," "Boyish Girl," "Descending the Wilderness," "MIDNIGHT," "Anna," "Night Wave," "A Night in Tokyo," "Sleepy City," "A Heart Full of Love," "Lips Made of Ice," "Chowding on Popcorn," "Those with Wings," "The Outlaw," "Golden Riser," "Ferris Wheel '82," "Million Dollar Night," and "Broken Hearts for Sale."
In February, a program titled "Comprehensive Analysis! Kai Band THE BIG GIG AGAIN 2016 Extended Edition" will be broadcast and streamed featuring highlights of the legendary live performance that was revived at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall after 33 years.
The following special programs will be broadcast in January (all on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand):
"Kai Band Symphony" (January 4th, 7:45pm) - A scene from a live performance held on November 15th, 2014 at Tokyo International Forum Hall A (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo). Kai Yoshihiro said of this concert, "Looking back on the 40-year history of the Kai Band, this is an unprecedented attempt on an unprecedented scale."
"Kai Band Special Live "Rolling Birthday 60"" (January 7th, 6:30pm) = A one-night only special performance held at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo) on April 7th, 2013, Kai's 60th birthday.
