Okiayu played Nube in the TV anime, movie version, and OVA (original video animation) that aired from 1996 to 1997, and will reprise his role in the new adaptation.
It was also announced that the anime will air on TV Asahi in the summer of 2025. Studio KAI will be producing the anime. This will be the first time a new anime adaptation of "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" has been produced in about 26 years, since the OVA "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube: The Greatest Battle in History! Zekki Raishuu!!," which was released in 1999.

"Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" is a manga written by Makura and illustrated by Okano, and was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1993 to 1999. The story is about a young teacher, Nueno Meisuke (Nube), who is assigned to Domori Elementary School and solves one case after another with the power of the "demon hand" that resides in his left arm.
