Abe Sadao: "Many people want a sequel to 'Futehodo'"

The 2024 U-CAN New Words and Buzzwords Awards, which decide the most popular words of the year, were announced on December 2nd, and "Futehodo," the nickname of the drama "Futehodo mo Hodo ga Aru!" (TBS), which aired in January, won the annual grand prize. On the same day, the award ceremony was held in Tokyo, and Abe Sadao, who played the lead role, spoke of his joy at receiving the award. When asked about his thoughts on the award, Abe said, "I think (scriptwriter) Kudo Kankuro is amazing," and revealed, "I haven't spoken to Kudo at all. I'll contact him." Regarding the reaction to "Futehodo," he said, "Everywhere I went, I was often told "I like it" at the scene other than the inappropriate one. Also, the actors said "I want to be in it." When asked about his thoughts on a sequel, he said, "Many of my co-stars and staff also want it. I haven't spoken to Kudo at all (laughs). If there is a sequel, I'd like to do my best again." The award began in 1984 and is announced every year in early December. Candidate words are selected by the editorial department and others, mainly from the words included in "Modern Terms Basic Knowledge" (Jiyuukokuminsha).
