Three poster visuals and trailers have been released for the "Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Selection Screening," a selection screening to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the broadcast of the popular anime "Space Battleship Yamato." Director Hideaki Anno said, "I don't think I would have the life I have today if I hadn't encountered Space Battleship Yamato," and as part of the 50th anniversary project planned and produced by the director, Anno will be screening episodes selected by him. The poster visual for Program 1 features Susumu Kodai holding a Cosmo Gun in front of the Yamato ship. Program 2 features the heroine Yuki Mori and Analyzer, as well as the eerily moving Beemera alien, and Program 3 features Starsha watching over Yamato after it has returned to Earth. The visuals that were previously featured on the laser disc and DVD packaging have been refined under the supervision of Director Anno. Mini posters will be distributed as a gift to attendees. Director Anno supervised the trailer, and was in charge of selecting and directing the cuts. The film condenses the fierce battle scenes between the Space Battleship Yamato, which travels 296,000 light years with the future of the Earth and humanity at stake, and the enemy Garmillan, as well as the crew's action, into 74 seconds. Screening begins on December 27th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) and other locations. Program 1 will screen episode 2, "The Gun Fires! Space Battleship Yamato Launches," episode 3, "Yamato Takes Off! A Challenge to 296,000 Light Years!", and episode 7, "Yamato Sinks! The Fateful Battle to Capture the Fortress!" from December 27th to January 2nd, 2025. Program 2 will screen episode 16, "Condemned Prisoners in the Dungeon on Planet Beemera!", episode 18, "Floating Fortress Island! A Suicide Squad of Just Two!", and episode 22, "The Final Battle! The Battle for the Rainbow Star Cluster!" from January 3rd to 9th, 2025. Program 3 will screen episode 23, "It's Finally Here! Rising Waves in the Magellanic Clouds!", episode 24, "Deadly Battle! God, Cry for Garmillan!", and episode 26, "Earth, Yamato Has Returned!" from January 10th to 16th, 2025.
