The fifth episode of the movie information program "Nakajima Kento Movie Traveler" (WOWOW), hosted by Nakajima Kento, will be broadcast on WOWOW Prime at midnight on December 8th. This time, Nakajima will visit Thailand, a country that has undergone remarkable evolution in recent years and is shining with a unique brilliance in the Asian film industry.
This time, Nakajima will talk about movies of the same generation with 29-year-old Poonpat Ian-Saman (nicknamed Up), one of Thailand's most brilliant actors, who made his global break with a Thai BL drama and was selected to star in the movie "Hun Payong: The Darkness Hidden in the Curse" (2023), which was released in Japan this summer.
Up, who loves Japan so much that he visits Japan frequently and has been greatly influenced by Japanese entertainment works, was excited when Nakajima, who sang the theme song, found out that the anime he recently watched and liked was "Oshi no Ko." Up was also happy to meet Nakajima. Nakajima talked about his role and the differences between Japanese and Thai film cultures, and App even asked him, "Which is more fun, being an idol or an actor?"
Then, they visited famous places such as Wat Pho and Wat Paknam, and went to a night market that Nakajima had always wanted to visit. At Jodh Fair, which is said to be the best in Bangkok with over 700 food stalls lined up in a small space, Nakajima tried the mouthwatering local delicacies and amazing local specialties for the first time.
"Nakajima Kento Movie Traveler" is a new type of movie information program with the theme of "movies x travel" in which Nakajima touches on the unique movie cultures that live in countries around the world and talks to the filmmakers who represent those countries to get to the "current state of world movies".
The fifth episode will be broadcast on WOWOW Prime from midnight on December 8th. It will be available on WOWOW On Demand from midnight on December 1st. A preview of the fifth episode is also available on WOWOW's official YouTube channel. In addition, the preview of the fifth episode and unreleased footage of the fourth episode are also available on WOWOW On Demand.
◇ Nakajima's full comments are below.
--What were your impressions of interviewing the popular young actor Up, who is currently on the rise?
I was excited to be interviewing two people of the same generation for the first time in the history of the show. Up is a very kind person, and even during the interview he was concerned about me and asked me if it was hot, and I was treated like a guest, even though I was supposed to be the one to welcome him, so I got the impression that he is a gentleman. I was truly happy to have made my first friend in Thailand.
--What was your favorite Thai food?
I've loved gapao since I was a child, so I was very excited to be able to eat it locally.
--What was your impression of Thailand and your impressions throughout the Thailand episode?
Thailand has a warm climate, and I was impressed by the warm personalities of the local people. Horror movies are booming in Thailand, and as a horror movie fan, there were many movies that I got hooked on.
