Akiyama, who plays Sanesuke, looked back on the scene.
Regarding Sanesuke, who was relied upon by Emperor Sanjo, Akiyama spoke on his behalf, saying, "It must be a bit complicated, being relied upon." "That's exactly what happened in today's scene, when he went to Michinaga to argue and couldn't defeat him, but he had to go and argue with Michinaga, and although he was on Emperor Sanjo's side, it felt like he was half acting with the feeling, 'Hmm, is it me?'" he said. In the end, Sanesuke was unable to change Michinaga's mind, and Michinaga told him, "I don't understand what you're saying."
Akiyama revealed, "I didn't even know what I was saying. I was saying something, but this was the first time Michinaga had ever said, 'I don't understand what you're saying' (laughs). That doesn't happen very often, does it? In a good way, it felt like I was spinning my wheels." He concluded, "That scene where he went on about how he could defeat him, and was defeated, was really funny. In truth, I didn't know what I was saying either, I couldn't remember my lines at all, and I was saying things that really weren't very clear, you know (laughs)."
