It has been announced that a new project called "Legends & Stars" will be launched on TV Asahi's news and information program "Udo Times" (Sundays 8:56pm), hosted by former NHK and now freelance Udo Yumiko. The project will see Udo interview legends who have made achievements in various fields and stars who are currently active at the forefront of the industry, and will begin on November 10th.
The first guest will be Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, who has been active since the dawn of television and is still active at the age of 91. Udo will delve into her career spanning more than 70 years since she began her career as the first NHK exclusive television actress in 1953.
An essential part of any discussion of Kuroyanagi is the long-running program "Tetsuko's Room" which began in 1976 and has aired more than 12,000 times. Kuroyanagi has been able to draw out the best conversations from a wide range of guests, including celebrities, cultural figures, and politicians, and newscaster Udou, who is also a newscaster, will ask her about the "secrets of interviewing."
They will also look back on memorable moments when Kuroyanagi asked cutting questions to her guests. Kuroyanagi was surprised, saying, "I was surprised myself. I can't believe she asked me that (laughs)." Some of the questions were shocking, but it became clear that at the root of them was Kuroyanagi's consideration for her guests.
Udou will also ask the behind-the-scenes stories of famous big-name guests. Kuroyanagi recalls one male guest, saying, "I really wanted to meet him. I thought he was my type."
The "Udou Times" episode on the 10th, which Kuroyanagi will appear on, will be an extended special, airing from 8:56 pm to 10:30 pm.
