"Dear Radiance" is the 63rd Taiga drama. It is set in the aristocratic society of the mid-Heian period, and the protagonist is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the world's oldest novel written by a woman. The script was written by Oishi Shizuka, who is writing a Taiga drama for the second time since "Koumyou ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote, and loved with all her heart.
In the 43rd episode, fires break out frequently in the Imperial Palace where Emperor Sanjo (Kimura Tatsunari) lives, and Michinaga (Emoto Tasuku) demands that he abdicate, claiming that it is due to the heavenly anger toward Sanjo's government.
However, Sanjo stubbornly refuses to listen, and the conflict deepens. Michinaga then senses something strange happening with Sanjo. Meanwhile, Mahiro (Yoshitaka) continues to write The Tale of Genji while serving Empress Shoshi (Migami Ai), and is reunited with her father Tametoki (Kishiyama Goro), who has returned to Tokyo from Echigo. His daughter, Kenko (Minami Sara), then comes to him for love advice... and so the story unfolds.
