On October 24th, Shizuyo Yamazaki, known as "Shizu-chan" from the comedy duo Nankai Candies, appeared at the "Can't Wait! Kick-off Fan Meeting in Theater" event for Disney Animation Studios' latest film "Moana 2" (released December 6th, directed by Dave Derrick Jr.) held in Tokyo. When asked who she would like to go see the film with, Yamazaki shyly replied, "My husband" and her husband, actor Tatsu Sato.
Comedian Natsuko Yokozawa and Taiko Sasaki from "7 MEN Samurai" also attended the event. When Yokozawa asked, "Do you call him My Husband?" Yamazaki mischievously replied, "I think I'll call him 'Hazu' from now on (laughs)." She continued, "Our wedding anniversary is coming up on December 12th. I hope we can go together," which drew applause from the audience. Yamazaki was embarrassed and said, "I ended up extorting the applause (laughs)."
In response to the same question, Yokozawa said, "Since there are two sisters in the story, I want to take my oldest and second daughters. My youngest daughter is only one year old, so she might not understand yet. I want to enjoy the story of the sisters in Moana while eating popcorn and telling (my daughters), 'You two will get along,'" showing her motherly side.
Sasaki said, "There's also the princesses part, so I wanted to go with the two princesses I met today. I don't mind watching it as many times as I want, so I'd like to go with each of them individually," to which Yamazaki replied, "You don't often get to say that." Sasaki laughed, saying, "We were getting so excited about something that we weren't supposed to see."
In addition, when asked about the appeal and memories of the series, Yamazaki spoke passionately of her love for Moana, saying, "(Moana) is a warrior who bravely goes to battle, which is different from the so-called princesses, and is cool. I can sympathize with her because I also fought (in boxing), and I admire her. It's really wonderful."
Yokozawa also expressed her love for the show by saying, "I watch it at home all the time." She also revealed that she "cheers" the show at home, saying, "My 4-year-old loves it and watches it often. There's a scene where her father tells her not to go to a house far away, but she gives up, and my 4-year-old daughter always says, 'Don't go. Your father will get angry with you,' (laughs)."
"Moana 2" is the sequel to the previous film, "Moana," which was made in 2016. Moana has been spending time with her family and friends, but when she learns of a legend that says, "If she can reach an island at the end of the sea, the curse will be lifted," she decides to go on a dangerous voyage to regain her bond with them. The film depicts her embarking on another adventure with Maui, the demigod who adventured with her in the previous film, and new friends.
