The life-size Gundam statue "RX-78F00/E Gundam" that will be installed in the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" pavilion for the popular anime series "Gundam" at the 2025 World Expo, Japan (Osaka-Kansai Expo) was unveiled on October 23rd. This is the first time that a life-size Gundam statue will be installed in Kansai. Materials from the moving life-size Gundam installed at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama were reused.
The statue is approximately 17 meters tall and weighs 49.1 tons, and is posed with one knee raised and arms raised, but is not movable. With hands raised high into space, it looks toward the future beyond, expressing a figure that will carve out a new space age together with humanity. On the same day, a top-down ceremony was held to pray for the safe installation of the life-size Gundam statue and to dock its head.
The pavilion, "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," will depict the "life in space" and "science and technology that has yet to be realized" depicted in the "Gundam" series as new possibilities for the future, and will express these through completely new images and other media. People can easily travel to the space station using an orbital elevator, and experience a "future where living in space has become commonplace," where mobile suits (MS) and humans coexist.
The life-size Gundam statue, "RX-78F00/E Gundam," will also appear in the images shown at the pavilion. The Bandai Namco Group plans to release related products for "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," such as plastic models and figures. The Osaka-Kansai Expo will be held in Yumeshima, Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
