The Halloween visuals of Maomao, who appears in the TV anime "The Apothecary Diaries," based on the light novel by Hinata Natsu, which was born from the novel submission site "Let's Become a Novelist," have been released. Maomao is dressed as a bloodthirsty monster called a jiangshi, and instead of her usual listless expression, she looks like she is enjoying Halloween. A special video with a mini voice of Maomao, played by Yuki Aoi, has also been released on YouTube. "Halloween Art Final" is scheduled to be released on Halloween day, October 31st.
To coincide with the release of the Halloween visuals, Animate will be holding the "The Apothecary Diaries Halloween in Animate Fair" from November 2nd to 24th. Those who spend 1,100 yen or more on "The Apothecary Diaries" related goods will receive a visual card as a gift. The announcement was made on October 22nd during the special program "Anime The Apothecary Diaries 1st Anniversary Broadcast & Second Season Information Release Special Program" broadcast on the TOHO animation channel on YouTube.
The light novel version of "The Apothecary Diaries" is published by Hero Bunko (Imagine Infos), and its comic adaptation has also become popular. The original series has sold over 38 million copies in total. The story is set in the glamorous harem of a certain continent, where Maomao, a young poison taster, becomes embroiled in an incident that takes place in the harem, which is full of conspiracies and rumors, together with the handsome eunuch Jinshi.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon TV from October 2023 to March 2024. The second season will be broadcast on Nippon TV's anime slot "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" from January 10, 2025, for two consecutive seasons every Friday at 11pm.
