The film "Tokyo Escape," starring actors Rio Teramoto, Akana Ikeda, Keito Tsuna Tsuna, and Kan Takahashi, will be released on March 20, 2026, and a Teaser trailer for the film has been released. New cast members have also been announced, including Yuya Matsuura, Motoki Fukami, and Honami Sato. It has also been announced that the theme song for the film will be performed by Chima Machida, a VTuber affiliated with Nijisanji. The song is titled "Neon and Afterimages."
This is the feature film debut of director Ren Akiba, a rising star born in 2001 and currently affiliated with BABEL LABEL's new label, 2045. The screenplay is entirely original, written by Akiba herself based on her own experiences living in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. The story is set in Kabukicho after To-yoko has been closed off by metropolitan ordinance. This suspenseful, one-night escape story sees the feelings and destinies of four people who have lost their home intertwine. Produced by Michihito Fujii, winner of the Best Director Award at the 48th Japan Academy Awards for his film "Seitai."
Teramoto plays Asuka, a high school student who has lost her place at home and at school and comes to Kabukicho filled with longing and a desire to escape; Ikeda plays Hiyori, the author of the online novel "Tokyo Escape" who ran away from the countryside to live in Toyo Yoko and is gaining popularity in the area; Tsuna plays Edo, who protects the people who end up in Toyo Yoko and becomes their emotional support; and Takahashi plays Melio, who acts alongside Ed and is a leader among the young people of Toyo Yoko.
