It has been announced that the "Second Platoon Duty Log" will be distributed starting June 5th as a gift to moviegoers during the fourth week of the first chapter of "Mobile Mobile Police Patlabor Patlabor EZY," a new anime based on the popular "Mobile Police Patlabor " series.
This special B6-sized booklet contains the "duty log" entries of the Second Platoon members who appear in Episode 2, "There is a Moment of Idleness." In addition to the full text that was only briefly visible in the main story, you can enjoy the various settings that director Yutaka Izubuchi meticulously crafted to reflect the individuality of each character.
Director Izubuchi commented, "I thought that if I was going to do it, I should write everything down (in the main story). I created it while thinking about how this character would be written."
"Since they are also police officers, we've incorporated subtle realism, such as them referring to themselves as 'professionals.' Although it only appears for a brief moment in the film, we even had male and female staff members draw different handwriting styles," he said, explaining the attention to detail.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is a multimedia project created by the legendary creative group "HEADGEAR," consisting of Masami Yuki, Izubuchi, Kazunori Ito, Akemi Takada, and Mamoru Oshii. It began in 1988 with an OVA (Original Video Animation) called "Early Days," and has since expanded into manga by Yuki, television anime, theatrical anime films, novels, audio dramas, games, and more.
"Mobile Police Patlabor EZY" is set in Japan in the 2030s, a time when the working population is declining and automation through AI technology is advancing. It consists of three chapters and eight episodes in total, with the first chapter released in theaters on May 15th. The second chapter will be released in theaters on August 14th, and the third chapter in March 2027.
