The TV Asahi drama "Borderless ~Wide Area Mobile Investigation Team~" (Wednesdays at 9 PM), starring actress Tao Tsuchiya and Shori Sato of the popular group "timelesz," will begin airing on April 8th.
A new police drama will begin airing in TV Asahi's traditional "Wednesday 9pm" time slot, which has produced shows like "Aibou," "Tokuso9," and "Keiji 7-nin." The script is written by Ryoichi Kimizuka, who also wrote the "Odoru Daisousasen" and "Kyojo" series (both on Fuji TV). The drama depicts the exploits of seven detectives with troubled pasts in a mobile investigation unit, a "speeding investigation headquarters in a truck" that the National Police Agency has decided to operate on a trial basis. The first episode will be extended by 6 minutes.
Tsuchiya plays Momoko Nakazawa, a female detective who usually acts unmotivated at work but is actually passionate, while Sato plays Tsubomi Kizawa, a bright and positive young detective.
Additionally, Eiji Yokota will play the cynical veteran detective Hanji Suguro, Kotaro Tanaka will play the driver of the investigation headquarters vehicle and a first-class mechanic Koji Shiratori, Yuka will play the cool detective Mio Amao with excellent deductive skills, Yoshihiko Inohara will play Norifumi Akase, the head of the mobile investigation division and team leader, and Kinya Kitaoji will play Soichiro Midorikawa, a former tough detective from the Metropolitan Police Department and a master of automobile maintenance.
In the first episode, the mobile investigation unit tackles a series of robberies targeting the elderly. The presence of a young man named Shoichi Akutsu (played by Shinki Sugo) emerges as being behind the crimes. Were these crimes committed through "illegal part-time jobs"? When they interrogate Shoichi after bringing him in, Tsubomi and Momoko feel something is off about Akutsu's testimony. The two then recall the words of Midorikawa, the "mechanic grandpa" who came to adjust his truck, "Listen carefully to the noise"...and the story unfolds from there.
The theme song, "BORDER," written by rock singer Eikichi Yazawa, will also be premiered in the first episode.
