It has been revealed that anime director Tsutomu Shibayama passed away on March 6th due to lung cancer. He was 84 years old. Ajia-do, where Shibayama served as representative director and president, made the announcement on March 17th.
After serving as animation director for works such as "Dokonjo Gaeru" and "Ganso Tensai Bakabon," he directed the fourth film in the "Doraemon" movie series, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Great Adventure in the South Seas" (1983), and continued to work on the series for over 20 years thereafter.
He served as chief director for the TV anime "Doraemon" and as director or general director for many other works, including "Nintama Rantaro," "Chibi Maruko-chan," and "Majime ni Fumajime Kaiketsu Zorori."
