A stage greeting to commemorate the release of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr Hunt - The Trail of a Little Challenger," a special edition of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr Hunt," which was released in theaters as part of the 10th anniversary project for the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on November 5th. Also screening at the same time was a new short film from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," "Intermission Wedge." Appearing on stage were Yuichiro Umehara, Yasuaki Takumi, who played Akihiro Altland, Taishi Murata, who played Norba Shino, and Mutsumi Tamura, who played Ride Massu. They revealed the filming of the new film and looked back on the 10th anniversary.
Regarding the recording of the new work, Umehara recalled, "It had an atmosphere like a class reunion. We were all chatting and getting along well, asking each other things like, 'How was your seating position?' Once the actual recording started, we were all focused. Even though it's been eight years, it felt like we were back in those days."
Murata said, "It was a bit embarrassing to see some people I hadn't seen in a long time. Hosoya (Yoshimasa) cheerfully led the performance, Terasaki (Yuka) said something strange, and Kawanishi (Kengo) just stared (laughs). It was like they haven't changed at all... and it made it easier to act, so I was able to do my best."
Umehara said of the recording session, "Eugene has grown by the end of the second season, but (in the new work) he still has some immaturity. Ten years ago I was able to express immaturity naturally, but now I have to create immaturity. I rewatched the TV series and re-created the character." Murata nodded and said, "It's certainly difficult. It creates a desire to do better."
Takumi also seems to have had some difficulties, saying, "I wanted to do better, so I leaned in too much... People told me I looked like an old man."
Tamura revealed, "I wondered if my level had improved since 10 years ago, but they said, 'You haven't changed,'" but added that there have been changes, saying, "I now see it from a parental perspective."
"Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" is set approximately 300 years after the end of the great war known as the Calamity War, and depicts the battles of Mikazuki, Augus, and the Tekkadan.
