The 25th episode of the NHK Asadora drama series "Bakebake " (Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM and other times), starring Akari Takaishi as the heroine, was broadcast on October 31st. In the same episode, the reason why Toki (Takaishi) stared intently at Heaven ( Tommy Bastow)'s hand when they shook hands at their first meeting in episode 22 (broadcast on October 28th) was revealed, causing a stir among viewers.
In episode 22, Heaven, an English teacher from America, arrives in Matsue. Toki is pushed to the front of the crowd and meets Heaven. As she holds out both hands and shakes them, Toki stares intently at her clasped hands.
In episode 25, it's Heaven's first day of school. At Hanada Inn, Heita (played by Katsuhisa Namase) and his friends prepare a sumptuous breakfast, but Heaven shouts, "I don't want to eat!" and retreats to her room. Seeing this, Toki seems concerned about Heaven and looks thoughtful.
Nishikori (Ryo Yoshizawa) comes to pick her up and tells her to go to school because the students are waiting, but the shoji door won't open. When Nishikori tries to force it open, Toki asks, "Aren't you scared of Mr. Heaven?"
Toki recalled how his hands were shaking when he shook hands with Heaven the first time they met, and said, "He came from a foreign country to a new city, meeting new people, and they all had high expectations of him. He must have been scared since then, and the more time passed, the more scared he became, getting irritated, angry, saying unreasonable things, screaming hell, hell... Professor Heaven is a human being, just like us... He's not a tengu, or an ogre, or a kappa. Why don't we just leave him alone for now?"
Comments on social media included, "What a spectacular landing after that handshake," "What Otoki felt during that first handshake was Heaven trembling," "So that's why she had that confused look on her face. Toki is a kind girl who can imagine how other people feel," "I'm moved by the sensitivity and sharpness of Toki's sensibility," and "I'm glad Otoki told Nishikori about the handshake."
