"Cat's Eye" ending video released

A brand new anime adaptation of Hojo Tsukasa's popular manga "Cat's Eye," which was popular mainly in the 1980s, will be available exclusively on Disney+ from September 26th. To coincide with the start of distribution, a creditless ending video has been released on YouTube. The ending video features Ado covering the theme song "CAT'S EYE" sung by Anri. The ending video was produced by the video production unit "Gitaisuru Meta," which works on music videos for popular artists.

Ado commented, "I'm a big fan of the original Anri's 'CAT'S EYE', and of course Anri is included in my respect for '80s pop music and the singers of that time, so when I was asked to sing it, I was very happy, but at the same time, I remember being fired up to record it because I was reinventing and releasing a classic song in the Reiwa era," she said. "Anri's singing voice is so smart and cool, so I tried to sing in a way that would resonate with Anri's fans and fans of the 'Cat's Eye' series."

The ending video is told from Kisugi Hitomi's perspective, depicting the three sisters' transformation from owners of the Cat's Eye Cafe into the phantom thief Cat's Eye and their theft. Mimicking Meta, who produced the video, said, "In order to express the conflict that Hitomi feels and the sexiness of Cat's Eye, the ending video focuses on the 'hand movements' she uses in her daily life and as she carries out her phantom thieving work. Please pay attention to the detailed depictions that are usually omitted in anime and manga, and enjoy."

The series is a popular manga that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 1981 to 1984. The story revolves around three beautiful sisters, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, who run the Cat's Eye cafe, coolly running through the night as phantom thieves, causing a stir in society. The story is filled with brilliant action and a thrilling romance with a detective.

An anime TV series was also broadcast from 1983 to 1985, and this will be the first time in about 40 years that the series will be adapted into an anime series. In the new anime, voice actresses Mikako Komatsu will play Hitomi Kisugi, the second of the three beautiful sisters, Ami Koshimizu will play Rei Kisugi, the eldest, and Yumiri Hanamori will play Ai Kisugi, the third. Takuya Sato will play Toshio Utsumi, a detective.

Episodes 1-6 of the first part will be streamed on Disney+ from September 26th to October 31st, and episodes 7-12 of the second part will be streamed one episode per week from December 26th to January 30th, 2026.
