It has been announced that the concert "Peter and Friends" held by singer-songwriter Taeko Onuki in July 2024 will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW in October.
"Peter and Friends" is centered on electronic music that makes heavy use of synthesizers from the 1980s and 1990s, such as "Peter Rabbit and Me" and "CARNAVAL," arranged by the late Ryuichi Sakamoto. Since it was difficult to perform these songs in this style, they were not performed in concerts for a long time.
However, by synchronizing the sounds programmed to be faithful to the originals, the pieces will be recreated. Onuki will premiere the piece in 2023 and hold another in 2024.
In addition, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Onuki's debut this year, an album recording of the "Peter and Friends" concert was released on the 9th of this month.
WOWOW will broadcast and stream in October a concert entitled "Taeko Onuki Peter and Friends 2024" held at EX THEATER ROPPONGI (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on July Getsuku last year. The performers were Onuki (vocals), Fabian-Reza Pane (piano), Suzuki Masato (bass), Amimori Shohei (keyboards), Sakata Manabu (drums), Fushimi Hotaru (guitar), and toshi808 (sequencer).
