The TV Asahi drama series " Ubai Ai, Manatsu " starring actress Marika Matsumoto (Fridays at 11:15pm, except in some regions) will begin on July 18th. This is the latest in the "Ubai Ai" series, which has always been a hot topic for its messy love-hate drama and the cast's eccentric performances. Series creator Osamu Suzuki, who retired from his work as a screenwriter and scriptwriter in March last year, has fulfilled his promise to the production team to make a sequel.
Matsumoto plays Umino Manatsu, who after breaking up with her illicit lover makes a fresh start from her job as a photo journalist for a weekly magazine to work in PR for the watch manufacturer Towani, while Yasuda Ken plays Sorachi Taimu, the heir and president of Ken Yasuda who looks just like her ex-boyfriend.
Maryjun Takahashi plays Tokimu's wife, a painter named Mirai, Mori Kasumi plays Hanabi, Mirai's younger sister who got a job at TOWANI through connections, Shirahama Alan plays Hikuma Motoya, a former subordinate who has a crush on Manatsu, Tanihara Nanane plays Himuro Nanato Tanihara, an art school student who falls in love with Mirai's paintings and works as his assistant, and Mizuno Miki plays Manatsu's late mother, Umino Miki, who leaves behind a TOWANI watch as a keepsake.
Episode 1: Manatsu is struggling with her job exposing scandals involving politicians and celebrities, and has just broken up with her lover. She makes a fresh start by changing jobs to a watch manufacturer called "TOWANI". However, on her first day at work, the company president, Tokimu, turns out to be the spitting image of her ex-lover, Hayato (played by Yasuda in a dual role). Manatsu is at a loss for words.
In the middle of summer, memories come back to him vividly and he feels a pang in his heart. He suddenly takes out a Towani watch that was a keepsake of his mother, Miko, that he had stored in a drawer. It had broken down after Miko's death in an accident, but strangely enough, the watch was still working properly.
Manatsu wears her mother's keepsake watch, which she is drawn to, to work. When she does, Tokimu's eyes light up. Soon, Tokimu is impressed by Manatsu's sincere work ethic and begins to trust her. Meanwhile, Tokimu's wife Mirai, who loves Tokimu deeply, is growing increasingly anxious about her husband's love for her. Hanabi, who works at TOWANI, is watching the three of them with interest.
Motoya, a former subordinate who has a crush on Manatsu, refuses to give up and continues his aggressive pursuit of her, leading to tangled relationships. Manatsu and Tokimu get caught up in an unexpected major accident...
