The trailer for season 2 of the anime "Cyberpunk: Edge Runners," produced by TRIGGER, the animation production company known for "Kill la Kill" and "Kill la Kill," has been released on YouTube. Although the details of the story are unknown, it hints at the birth of a new generation. Season 2 will be exclusively distributed on Netflix soon. It was announced at the "Anime Expo 2025" event being held in Los Angeles, USA.
The series was produced by TRIGGER, Polish game development studio CD PROJEKT RED, and Netflix. The anime is a spin-off set in the same world as the game "Cyberpunk 2077" produced by CD PROJEKT RED, and season 1 began streaming on Netflix in 2022.
The director is Imaishi Hiroyuki, who has worked on "Gurren Lagann," "Kill la Kill," and "Promare," the character designer and chief animation director is Yoshinari You, who has worked on "Little Witch Academia," and the script is written by Usa Yoshihiro and Otsuka Masahiko.
The story depicts the life of David Martinez, a teenage boy who becomes an outlaw mercenary "cyberpunk" at great sacrifice and overcomes hardships in the megalopolis of Night City, where technology and body modification have become commonplace.
