It has been announced that the popular group "TOKIO" will be disbanding on June 25th. The announcement was made on their official website on the same day.
"The group TOKIO, whose members are Shigeru Jojima, Masahiro Matsuoka, and Taichi Kokubun, has decided to disband as of today," the group announced. "We take this very seriously, as Taichi Kokubun's recent violation of compliance has caused great inconvenience and concern to all involved parties. We would like to once again offer our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry," they said in their apology.
They continued, "After confirming each other's intentions as members, we have concluded that given the current situation, it will be difficult for us to continue working as a group called TOKIO and regain the trust and support of all of you, so we have decided to bring an end to our activities as a group."
"We sincerely apologize to the many fans and related parties who have supported TOKIO since our CD debut in 1994, to the media and sponsoring companies who have supported us and given us opportunities to perform, and to the people of Fukushima Prefecture and other local areas who have warmly accepted our activities, for this sudden announcement," they said in their apology.
"Looking ahead, we would like to first apologize and say goodbye to everyone involved, and then each of us will face ourselves and continue to ask ourselves sincerely what we can contribute to all those who have helped us until now. Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been involved with TOKIO over the past 31 long years. Thank you very much," they wrote.
