Additional cast members have been announced for the animated film "Hyakuem.", based on the manga by Uoto Toyo, who is known for " Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (Chi: Chikyu no Undo ni Tsuite), " which was also made into a TV anime. It has been revealed that a star-studded cast of voice actors including Atsumi Tanezaki and Aoi Yuki Aoi will appear. Tanezaki will play the protagonist Togashi when he was in elementary school, while Yuki will play the other protagonist Komiya when he was in elementary school. It has been announced that Togashi and Komiya will be played as teenagers by actors Tori Matsuzaka and Sometani Shota, respectively.

Jun Kasama will play Jingami, a former star athlete in the middle school track and field world who becomes Togashi's teammate on the high school track and field team; Rie Takahashi will play Asakusa, a bright high school girl who tries to recruit Togashi to join the high school track and field team; and Tanaka Yuki will play Shiina, a high school girl who is on the high school track and field team with Asakusa and supports the team.

Yuma Uchida plays Kabaki, a promising runner who will lead the next generation of track and field, Junya Enoki Junya plays Numano, a bright and friendly member of Komiya's high school track and field club, Ishitani Haruki plays Kyoda, the captain of Komiya's high school track and field club who is afraid of Komiya's talent, Ishibashi Aya plays Morikawa, an athlete who admires Togashi, and Tomokazu Sugita plays Onomichi, a long-time friend and self-proclaimed rival of Jinkami.

"Hyakuem." is Uoto's debut serialization, and was serialized on Kodansha's web manga app "Magazine Pocket (Magapoke)" from 2018 to 2019. It depicts the madness and passion of those who are fascinated by the brilliance of the "100m (meter)" in the world of track and field, which lasts less than 10 seconds. Togashi, who is naturally fast and has found friends and a place to belong, meets Komiya, a transfer student who simply runs as hard as he can to forget his harsh reality, and the two gradually become rivals and best friends through the 100-meter race. A few years later, Komiya, who has become one of the top runners, appears in front of Togashi, who is known as a genius runner but is terrified of the fear of having to keep winning... This is the story.

The anime will be directed by Iwaizawa, who was nominated for an Annie Award for his work on "Music," and produced by Rock'n'Roll Mountain, the studio behind "Music." It will be released on September 19th. It will also be released in North America in October.

Comments from the voice actors are as follows:

◇Comment from Jun Kasama, who plays Jinshin

I will be playing the role of Jinshin. What I valued most in this production, and what I found most difficult, was unadorned raw emotion. Human emotions and feelings are never intended to be expressed outwardly. However, I felt that the value of this production lies in the way that the various raw emotions that humans possess are swirled and output, and that this is the color of the work. Therefore, my first goal in playing Jinshin was to live carefully and without embellishment. I hope you enjoy this whirlpool-like fusion of raw human emotion and entertainment.

◇Comment from Rie Takahashi, who plays Asakusa

I auditioned with my own character and experiences in mind, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with Asakusa. The film adaptation of the original work has captured the charm of the original work to the fullest, and the dialogue makes me feel like I'm reliving a time in my life, like I'm recording it on video. I'm honored to be able to live in the world of "100 M." together with the original!

◇Comment from Yuki Tanaka, who plays Shiina

I am Tanaka Yuki, who will be playing the role of Shiina. I was so captivated by the sight of the runners starting off, each with their own reasons for not being able to lose, but striving to be even 0.01 seconds faster, that I found myself holding my breath as I watched. I am honored to be able to run alongside Shiina in this serious world where both body and mind are pushed to their limits, and where even danger can sometimes be glimpsed. Please come to the theater to see this extreme way of life, where everything is put into a dozen seconds...!

◇Comment from Atsumi Tanezaki, who plays Togashi (elementary school student)

I've always been a slower runner than most people, so I never imagined people risking their lives on the distance of "100 meters." But "Hyakuem." was filled with a lot of emotions that I know. It's hot. I hope everyone can feel the same passion that I felt from the moment I first encountered the work, even during the recording.

◇Comment from Aoi Yuki, who plays Komiya (elementary school student)

I've always run away from running, so I was surprised to see that there are people who establish themselves through running, and that's why they run so hard, they have no choice but to run. I was able to see that view for the first time through Komiya. The dubbing, which I did my best to do while suffering from oxygen deprivation, was painful, but also surprisingly pleasant... I hope I can convey this feeling...! Please take a look!

◇Comment from Yuma Uchida, who plays Kabaki

I am very honored to have the opportunity to participate in "Hyakuem." Kabaki is not a man of many words, but he has a hidden passion inside him. I approached the recording with the determination to carefully weave each and every word. I hope you will enjoy watching it. Please enjoy "Hyakuem." at the theater!

◇Comment from Junya Enoki, who plays Numano

I'm Junya Enoki, the voice of Numano. When I read the original work, I felt a tremendous amount of passion, so I was very happy to be able to participate in the dubbing this time! Not only the track and field scenes, but the everyday scenes are also very interesting. Please look forward to it!

◇Comment from Haruki Ishiya, who plays Keida

For a short time, I too put everything I had into athletics and the 100 meters. I gave up because of an injury, but I'm very happy to be able to live the athletics I gave up on then as Keita in "100m." Just 10 seconds. Just 100 meters. This is the present of them living in a simple, fleeting, cruel, and joyful world. Please look forward to it.

◇Comment from Hiyori Ishibashi, who plays Morikawa

I'm Ishibashi Haruo, who plays Morikawa. I was so touched by the original work that I thought "I definitely want to appear in this film," so I was really happy when I was selected. Morikawa is a big fan of Togashi, played by Tori Matsuzaka, and I really admired Matsuzaka, so I was able to act with emotion when we had our lines. Please come and see this heated track and field showdown at the theater!

◇Comment from Tomokazu Sugita, who plays Onomichi

I hope that he can add his unique personality to express the single-mindedness and enthusiasm of young people who move forward towards their dreams and ideals.
