Visuals of the main characters Yaotome Hinako, Oumi Shiori, and Yashiro Miku in casual clothes from the TV anime "This Monster Wants to Eat Me," which is based on the manga by Naekawa Sai that is currently being serialized in "Dengeki Maoh" (KADOKAWA) and other magazines, have been released.
The visual shows the main characters enjoying the local gourmet food of Ehime Prefecture, where the story is set, and features Hinako holding a mandarin orange juice, Shiori holding fried tarts, a local dessert made from the famous deep-fried tart, in both hands, and Miho holding Botchan dango, a three-colored rice dumpling that appears in Natsume Soseki's novel "Botchan."
It was also announced that life-size panels of Hinako, Shiori, and Miku will be installed in four locations, including Iyo City Hall in Ehime Prefecture. They will appear one after another from June 1st.
"This Monster Wants to Eat Me" is a manga that has been serialized in "Dengeki Maoh" since October 2020. Set in Ehime Prefecture, it is a suspense story depicting the beautiful yet sad encounter between Hinako, a girl who wishes to die, and Shiori, a mermaid who desires her flesh and blood. Shiori protects Hinako until she reaches her peak maturity, promising that she will "one day eat her," and Hinako has a heartfelt thought in her heart that "this person might be able to grant my wish."
The anime will be produced by Studio Rings, with Naoyuki Kuzuya as general director and Yusuke Suzuki as director. Reina Ueda will play Hinako Yaotome, Yui Ishikawa as Shiori Omi, and Fairouz Ai as Miku Yashiro. It will start airing in October.
