To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the anime "You're Under Arrest," which is based on the manga by Kosuke Fujishima, a "30th Anniversary Illustration Album" featuring original illustrations by Fujishima will be released. Reservations are being accepted on Bandai Namco Filmworks' official online store, "A-on STORE."
It was also announced that a screening with a staff talk show for the theatrical version of "You're Under Arrest the Movie" and the OVA (Original Video Animation) will be held at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on June 28th. Fujishima, the director of the theatrical version, Nishimura Junji, and the director of the OVA, Furuhashi Kazuhiro, will be in attendance.
The work is a manga that began serialization in "Morning Party Special Edition" (Kodansha) in 1986. The story is about the crazy adventures of the super duo Tsujimoto Natsumi and Kobayakawa Miyuki, who work at the traffic division of Sumida Police Station in downtown Tokyo.
An OVA was released in 1994-95, the first TV anime series was broadcast in 1996, a "Special" in 1999, the second series in 2001, and the third series in 2007. A movie version was released in 1999, marking the 25th anniversary of the series.
