The animated feature film "The Boy and the Heron" directed by Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 96th Academy Awards, was broadcast on Friday Road Show (Nippon TV, Friday 9pm) on May 2nd, and the average viewership rating (Kanto region, surveyed by Video Research, same below) was 12.4% for households and 7.9% for individuals.
"The Boy and the Heron" is Miyazaki's latest feature-length animated film, his first in about 10 years since "The Wind Rises" in 2013. Miyazaki wrote the original story and screenplay. The film was released on July 14, 2023, without the plot, cast, theme song, etc. being revealed in advance.
Actor Soma Santoki plays the main character, Masato, and the cast includes voice actors Masaki Suda, Ko Shibasaki Kou, Aimyon, Kimura Yoshino, Takuya Kimura Takuya, Otake Shinobu, Jun Fubuki, Kazebuki Jun, Agawa Sawako, Takizawa Karen, Kunimura Jun, Kobayashi Kaoru, and Hino Shohei.
Friday Road Show will broadcast the animated film "Porco Rosso," also directed by Miyazaki, on May Getsuku.
