Actor Shino Ikenami will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on April 29th at 1pm. Last May, her husband, actor Akira Nakao, passed away at the age of 81. She says that things have finally calmed down recently.
The couple appeared on the show three times. While watching footage of their first appearance together and footage of Nakao, now in his 40s, talking about seeing Ikenami at a film studio before they started dating, the couple will reveal their "particular" personal lives. They will also introduce Ikenami's glasses and paintings he painted in his later years.
She said that they had always discussed end-of-life planning, and that her husband had expressed wishes such as "no funeral," "no life-prolonging treatment," and "to spend his final days at home," so she tried her best to make those wishes come true. However, when her husband actually passed away, she recalled that she had no one to talk to and had to handle everything on her own, which was much harder than she had imagined. She also spoke for the first time about her husband's fierce battle with illness, as he repeatedly fought against the disease. She said she felt bad for lying when asked about her husband.
