The 14th episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , titled "Tsutae Segawa Married Couple Travels", was broadcast on April 6th, and viewers also took note of the "choice" made by Hayato Ichihara Kengyo, played by Ichihara Hayato.
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
In episode 14, the shogunate cracks down on the Todo-za troupe, and the Kengyo and Segawa (Sei, played by Fuka Koshiba) are arrested, and even Tsutae (Yokohama) is taken away by the police.
After being released, Tsutaju learns from Ooya (played by Atsushi Ito) that a vacant store will be available on Gojikendo, and wonders if he could become independent and open his own store. Eventually, Kengyo is sentenced, and he decides to divorce Segawa of his own volition.
The Kengyo explains the reason for the divorce to Segawa, saying, "I'm the one who decided to grant your wish, whatever it may be." Segawa, understanding the Kengyo's feelings, tearfully expresses her gratitude, saying, "I was a truly happy wife."
At the end of the episode, Segawa chooses to leave Yoshiwara for Tsutajuu's dream, rather than being with Tsutajuu, but viewers also responded to the Kengyo's "choice" to "walk the talk".
