The 14th episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , titled "Tsutajesu Segawa Married Couple Journey", was broadcast on April 6th. After being divorced by Toriyama Kengyo ( Hayato Ichihara), it seemed as if Segawa (Sei, Fuka Koshiba) would end up together with Tsutaju (Yokohama), but instead she left a letter and left Yoshiwara, causing viewers to ask questions such as "Why?", "Why Segawa?" and "Why? Really, why?"
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
In the 14th episode, the shogunate cracks down on the Todo-za troupe, and the Kengyo and Segawa are arrested, with Tsutae being taken away by the police.
After being released, Tsutae learns from Ooyasu (played by Atsushi Ito) that a vacant store will be available on Gojikendo, and wonders if he could become independent and open his own store. Eventually, Kengyo is sentenced, and Segawa is divorced by Kengyo. Tsutae invites Segawa to "open the store together," and they were meant to live together, but...
Towards the end of the film, Tsutae visits Segawa, but she has already left Yoshiwara. As the wife of a kengyo who had built up a large fortune as a loan shark, Segawa faced strong public criticism and believed that having a "notorious" reputation close to her would be an obstacle to Tsutae's dreams, so she chose to step aside.
The letter left behind also contained the farewell words "Goodbye." Viewers responded on social media with comments such as "Oh, so sad," "I can't do this...," and "A second goodbye..." In addition to comments such as "Oh my goodness, Segawa... he shouldn't have to carry it all on his own... This is why! This is why Morishita's scripts are...", "Morishita's script has been put into action", "It's Morishita-sensei's script, after all. I knew it wouldn't unfold in a carefree, lovey-dovey, happy way, but it's still sad," there were also comments of agreement such as "That's right, this story was written by Morishita... that's right...", "Morishita Taiga was Morishita Taiga after all", and "Well, there's no way Yoshiko Morishita would write a script that's all about happiness..."
