Actor Kagawa Teruyuki appeared at the completion presentation for the drama series "W Sai," in which he plays the lead role, held in Tokyo on March 20th. When asked about the appeal of this work, which was directed and written by Seki Yutaro and Hirase Kentaro of the director group "Gogatsu," Kagawa praised it highly, saying, "It's a series of unclear and difficult pieces, but I don't think it's connected to a cathartic feeling that everyone can agree on. It may be cathartic for some viewers. The courage to not present it as cathartic is new," and stated forcefully, "I can now say with confidence that this is a drama that will go down in history."
When asked why he felt satisfied with the quality of the film, Kagawa said, "A drama is not just about achieving catharsis and making the viewer feel satisfied at the end. With this film, there is a major trend that does not lead to catharsis throughout the film, so I can't wait to hear how everyone responds to it."
Kagawa also stated his stance that "the costume and hairstyle are the most important part of preparing for a role," and surprised the audience by saying that when it came to playing the six different roles, "it took me two days to decide on the costumes. It just never seems to end."
Furthermore, Kagawa struggled to choose a hairstyle for each costume, but revealed that his long hair came in handy, saying, "At the time, I had long hair. It was extremely unpopular (with people around me) (laughs). It was like I was growing it out just to do this drama, and it worked." Directors Seki and Hirase were also in attendance at the completion report meeting.
This completely original work depicts how a "man" played by Kagawa appears before six innocent characters living in modern times while carrying their own conflicts, and a certain "disaster" mercilessly befalls them. Who is the "man"? What is the "disaster"? When and to whom will the "disaster" befall? The existence of the "man" brings about unprecedented fear... This is the story.
"Serial Drama W Sai" will start on April 6th. It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand from 10pm on Sundays. There will be a total of 6 episodes, with the first episode being broadcast for free.
