The lineup for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi, Monday to Friday 1pm), which will air from March 10th to 14th, has been announced. On the 10th, actor Tetsuya Takeda will appear, on the 11th actor Shinya Kote will appear, on the 12th, composer Akira Senjyu and violinist Mariko Senjyu will appear, along with the siblings, on the 13th the comedy duo "Penalty" and on the 14th actor Ayako Sawada will appear.
Mr. Takeda started Aikido at the age of 65 and has been practicing it for 10 years. He says that it is very difficult because he trains with junior and senior high school students, who get up immediately after being thrown. He says that Aikido has also changed the way he deals with his wife.
Kote is 51 years old. He worked part-time jobs until he made his big break at the age of 45. He discovered his love for theater in high school, and spent two years studying for entrance exams to join the Waseda University drama club. The person he idolizes is his senior in the university drama club, Yashima Norito.
All three siblings in the Senju family are artists, with the eldest son working as a Japanese painter. The second son, Akira, has been helping his mother since he was a child, and even now he cooks "mother's cooking" for his siblings.
Penalty reveals that the origin of their act is The Drifters. Five years ago, the duo faced a crisis. Through Wacky's battle with cancer, they both felt a strong desire to stand on stage as partners and comedians.
Sawada said that he made a self-produced CD to commemorate his 50th anniversary in showbiz last year. After it made it onto the music charts, he decided to resume his singing career. He is enjoying the new challenge of being 75 years old, traveling alone to the countryside to promote his CD.
