It has been announced that the TV anime " From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, " based on a popular work that originated from the novel submission site " Shosetsuka ni Naro ," will be broadcast on TV Asahi's anime slot "IMAnimation" from April 5th. It will be exclusively distributed worldwide in over 240 countries and regions on Prime Video from April 6th. The second key visual has also been released, depicting "the strongest old man" Beryl Gardenant holding his sword, along with his former disciples Allusia, Surena, Kuruni, and Fishel.
Additional cast members were also announced, including Arisa Nakata as Myui Freya, "a girl who is at the mercy of fate and fights against it," and Ryota Osaka as Shupur, "the guardian of faith who has received a miracle from God."
The work is a light novel written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima, and is a classic fantasy about a powerful man who is unconsciously unrivaled. Beryl Gardenant runs a small swordsmanship dojo in a rural village, and is visited by her former student, Aleucia, who rose to become the head of the royal knights at a young age, and ends up going to the royal capital as a special instructor for the knights. The comic adaptation by Kazuki Toshifuji was selected for the Piccoma Award 2023 and other awards, and the series has been gaining popularity with a total circulation of over 6.5 million copies.
The anime will be directed by Akio Kasumi and produced by Passione and Hayabusa Films. Hiroaki Hirata will play the main character, Beryl Gardenant.
