It has been revealed that the Yana Toboso-member group Ryugujo, produced by Avu from the band Queen Bee, will be in charge of the ending theme (ED) for the sequel to Black Butler : Public School Arc, Black Butler : Emerald Witch Arc, an anime series based on Yana Toboso's manga. This will be the group's first anime tie-up. The ED is titled "WALTZ" and Avu wrote the lyrics and composed the music.
Ryugujo commented, "We are truly happy from the bottom of our hearts to be able to dedicate Ryugujo's first anime tie-up to such an amazing work as ' Black Butler.' Thank you so much! All the members read the original work and watched the anime, and discussed our respective thoughts before recording. As people who continue to perform on stage, Ciel's words, 'I have no regrets and I shouldn't rely on anyone...' are deeply engraved in our hearts. For Ryugujo, the ending theme 'WALTZ' has become a very important song that will be indispensable for our future activities. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy our song along with the anime! The opening theme song for "Black Butler : The Emerald Witch Arc", "MAISIE", will be performed by HYDE, the vocalist of the bands "Co shu Nie" and "L'Arc~en~Ciel", under the name "Co shu Nie feat. HYDE".
"Black Butler" is a manga that has been serialized in "Monthly G Fantasy" (Square Enix) since September 2006. Set in the prestigious British aristocratic family, the Phantomhive family, the story depicts the exploits of Sebastian, the perfect butler who serves his spoiled 13-year-old master, Ciel.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2008 to March 2009, followed by "Black Butler II" from July to September 2010 and "Black Butler Book of Circus" from July to September 2014. The movie version, "Black Butler Book of the Atlantic", was released in January 2017. A live-action movie starring Hiro Mizushima and Ayame Goriki was also released in 2014. The series has sold over 35 million copies in total.
The new TV anime series "Black Butler : Public School Arc", the first in about 10 years, aired from April to June 2024. "Black Butler : Emerald Witch Arc" will begin airing in April.
