Hokuto Matsumura of the popular group "SixTONES" attended the awards ceremony for the "98th Kinema Junpo Best Ten" (sponsored by Kinema Junpo Publishing) held in Tokyo on February 20th. Matsumura, who won the Best Actor award for his role in the movie "All About Dawn" (directed by Miyake Sho), expressed his joy by saying, "I am truly happy from the bottom of my heart to receive this award with such a long history."
The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Maiko Seo. The story is about Misa Fujisawa, who cannot control her irritability due to PMS (premenstrual syndrome), and Takatoshi Yamazoe, who suffers from panic disorder. With the support of their understanding at work, they begin to think that they can help each other with a special feeling like comrades. Mone Kamishiraishi and Matsumura plays Yamazoe.
Looking back on the film, Matsumura said, "It was a story about making a place for someone to belong." MC Kasai Shinsuke asked him, "Are you able to separate your two places as a top idol group member and as an actor?" To which he answered, "I can't help but feel that it's one body, or one way of thinking, so I can't really say that it's me. Wherever I go, there are people who support me, inspire me, and pull me along."
He further revealed his feelings about the group, saying, "In both jobs you have colleagues, but in idol groups, people come together to spend their lives together, and I feel like a larger percentage of them are themselves."
The film was ranked number one in the Top Ten Japanese Films, and director Miyake won the Japanese Film Director Award and the Reader's Choice Japanese Film Director Award.
