It has been announced that the light novel "Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table" from MF Bunko J (KADOKAWA) will be adapted into a TV anime and will begin airing in January 2026. The work is a light novel written by Ukai Yuji and illustrated by Nekometal. The story is about a 17-year-old ghost who is a professional killer game player, and while living off the prize money he wins in killer games, he aims to win consecutive games. It has also been a hot topic after being selected as the winner of the first place in the new work category of "This Light Novel is Amazing! 2024" (Takarajimasha) and the Excellence Award in the "18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award". The comic adaptation is also gaining popularity.
The anime will be directed by Sota Ueno, with series composition by Rintaro Ikeda, character design by Eri Osada, and sound direction by Noriyoshi Konuma. It will be produced by Studio Deen.
