It has been announced that Yuki Kaji, Tomokazu Sugita, and Reina Ueda will appear as voice actors in " No.1 Sentai Gozyuger " (TV Asahi, 9:30am), a production celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Super Sentai series. Kaji will play Tega Sword, a god-like being who usually exists in secret in the shape of a giant "right hand." During the past Universe War, Tega Sword's power was divided into countless rings, and he contracts with humans chosen by the rings to host a ring battle to determine who is the number one among them. Sugita and Ueda will play unique enemy executives formed by the fusion of a husband and wife, with Sugita playing Mr. Shining Knife and Ueda playing Mrs. Sweet Cake.
At the production announcement press conference streamed on YouTube and other platforms on January 26th, Kaji commented, "I am very happy to be involved in this commemorative 50th anniversary work of the Super Sentai series. In these days when even deciding on rankings is hesitant, I have the utmost respect for Toei's passionate spirit in deciding to create a work with number one as the keyword. Everyone is a hero in some way, and a hero to someone. That's what I've been taught in my career as a voice actor so far. I'm sure everyone is number one...So, who will be number one in this work, and what does it mean? I look forward to watching with excitement and thrills not only as a performer, but also as a fan of the work. From now on, I will be giving it my all as Tega Sword every week, so I hope you will all support me this year."
"No.1 Sentai Gozyuger" is about five heroes with animal and dinosaur motifs, who will battle against the number one monsters who have topped all fields, rivals with the powers of past Reds, and even Gojugers themselves, in order to obtain the Sentai Ring, a ring that is said to grant any wish. The series will air on TV Asahi every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. starting February 16th.
