The second promotional video for the TV anime "Marriage Toxin," based on the manga serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," has been released on YouTube, revealing that college student singer-songwriter AKASAKI will be performing the ending theme song, "Shakenababye."
The first half of the PV features the opening theme song "Kill or Kiss," sung by actress and singer Yurina Hirate, and depicts fast-paced battle scenes where supernatural assassination techniques clash. The second half features the ending theme song "Shakenababye" by AKASAKI and includes a humorous scene where Gero confides his heartfelt true feelings hidden behind his life as a hitman to Shirosaki. The video is full of the charm of Gero's strong and cool side as well as his clumsy, genuine self.
AKASAKI commented, "Hello, I'm AKASAKI, a university student and singer-songwriter. I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be performing the ending theme song for a terrestrial TV anime for the first time. Moreover, I'm truly honored to be involved with 'Marriage Toxin,' a wonderful work that I've loved and read for a long time. In the song 'Shakenababye,' I put the message of 'the strength to move forward in our own way, even in a love full of mistakes.' I hope you'll enjoy the catchy phrase and the energetic yet somewhat nostalgic sound that matches the speed of the work, along with the lingering feeling of the anime. I hope that this song, along with the TV anime 'Marriage Toxin,' will become a 'first prize' memory in everyone's hearts!"
Leading up to the April 7th premiere, Kansai TV will air special and mini-programs. The special program "Almost There! Marriage Toxin Anime Production (Secret) Behind-the-Scenes Special," airing at 12:55 AM on April 5th, will explore the appeal of "Marriage Toxin" through an interview with director Motonobu Hori and footage from the animation production company, Bones Film. The mini-program "Maritoki Navi," in which the cast members share highlights from various fields, will air on Fuji TV at 5:25 PM on April 5th and on Kansai TV at 10:54 PM on April 7th.
The manga is based on a story by Jyakuen and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda. It's a battle action story about Gero Hikaru, a young man who is a "poison user," a lineage of assassins that has continued for hundreds of years, and who teams up with marriage swindler Shirosaki Mei to find the perfect marriage in order to prevent his bloodline from dying out. It has gained popularity, including being selected as the 8th best web manga in the "Next Manga Award 2022".
The anime will be directed by Motonobu Hori, known for works such as "Carole & Tuesday" and "Metallic Rouge," and produced by Bones Film. Haruki Ishitani will voice Hikaru Gero, and Shion Wakayama will voice Mei Shirosaki, a skilled con artist who helps Gero with his marriage search. It will air on Kansai TV/Fuji TV's anime block "Ka-Ani-Bal!!" starting April 7th at 11 PM.
