The cover art for "BOW AND ARROW," the opening theme song for the TV anime "Medalist," based on a figure skating manga and sung by singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, has been released. Yonezu himself has drawn the protagonist, Yuzuku Inori, of the series. Inori is shown smiling on the ice. It was also announced that the full version of "BOW AND ARROW" will be available for download on January 27th.
"Medalist" is a manga by Tsurumai Ikada that has been serialized in the manga magazine "Monthly Afternoon" (Kodansha) since 2020. The story is about a young man, Akiura Michiji, who has failed as a skater, who meets Yuzuki Inori, a girl who aspires to the world of figure skating, and aims to become a glorious medalist as both a coach and athlete.
The anime will be directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto, known for "Invasion!? Squid Girl," and produced by ENGI, known for "Kantai Collection: Someday at That Sea." Natsumi Haruse will play Yuzuki Inori, and Takeo Otsuka will play Akiura Michiji. It has been airing since January on TV Asahi's late-night anime slot "NUMAnimation."
