The first episode of the Sunday Theatre drama " Mikami Sensei " (TBS, Sunday 9pm) starring actor Tori Matsuzaka was broadcast on January 19th, and it was revealed that the theme song will be the new song "Puppets Can't Control You" by rock band ONE OK ROCK. The song was released on the first episode along with the original end credits video.
ONE OK ROCK has previously held world tours in North America, Europe, and Asia, and since September last year they held their largest world tour to date, "ONE OK ROCK 2024 PREMONITION WORLD TOUR," which consisted of 8 performances in 7 cities, attracting approximately 190,000 people and being a great success.
The new song, "Puppets Can't Control You," resonates with the theme that " Mikami Sensei" challenges, "a stone against the absurdity of society," and is an aggressive and dynamic rock number that resonates with the resentment, anger, and burning passion toward society that wells up deep in the hearts of people living in this country.

During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, when it was difficult to share one's true thoughts and feelings, and when the time when young people can be most passionate as students was perhaps taken away, I saw the video of "18 Festival" at such a time, ONE OK ROCK's "We are," and it was at this time that I was inspired to create "Mikami Sensei." I was deeply overwhelmed by the screams, smiles, and tears of 1,000 18-year-olds performing together, and I wanted to convey the energy, emotions, and thoughts that were bursting forth from young people in a drama. At the same time, it has become very difficult for young people to express their honest thoughts, and perhaps it is us adults who are making them do this. This feeling is the backbone of "Mikami Sensei."
Now, five years later, I'm very happy to be able to deliver "Mikami Sensei" to the world together with ONE OK ROCK. Society has changed greatly. Perhaps distortions have become greater. In such a society, we must think for ourselves, live without lying to the emotions and reactions that arise within us, and be firm in ourselves without being controlled by anyone else. I hope that the theme song will resonate with Mikami Sensei's teachings and that the drama will touch the hearts of many people.
