On January 4th, it was revealed that the TV anime "Silent Witch: The Secret of the Silent Witch", based on the light novel by Iku Matsuri, which is popular on the novel posting site "Shosetsuka ni Naro", will be broadcast in 2025. On the same day, a teaser PV was broadcast on TOKYO MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV, revealing the animation. Additional cast members were also announced, including Nabatame Hitomi as Monica Everett's familiar Nero, who can understand and speak human language, and Junichi Suwabe as Lewis, a magician who is one of the Seven Sages like Monica and who forced Monica to be the guardian of the second prince.
The teaser PV features the protagonist Monica Everett and her familiar Nero as they head towards Serendia Academy, the setting for the anime, in the morning glow. A teaser visual of Monica turning around with her back to the school was also released. A magic circle is deployed in the back of the school, and Monica is surrounded by glowing butterflies, making for an impressive visual.
The work is a light novel written by Matsuri Iku and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi. Set in a world where humanity has lost the ability to use magic due to the chanting of incantations, it depicts the exploits of Monica Everett, the "Silent Witch," a young genius magician who created the first chantless magic in history. Although Monica is one of the Seven Sages, the pinnacle of magicians in the Kingdom of Ridil, she is extremely shy and nervous around people, and retreats to the mountains to quietly study magic, but is ordered to infiltrate a prestigious school where aristocrats gather and take on a top-secret mission to protect the second prince.
The light novel is published by Kadokawa Books (KADOKAWA), and the comic adaptation is also gaining popularity. The total number of copies of the series has exceeded 600,000. In the anime, Saya Aizawa plays Monica.
