The cast announcement press conference for the NHK morning drama "Bakebake" for the second half of 2025 was held on November 27th at the NHK Osaka Broadcasting Station, and it was revealed that Tommy Bastow will play the role of the heroine's husband. He was selected from 1,767 people in an audition to play the role of Heaven, modeled after Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn).
Tommy Bastow was born on August 26th, 1991, and is 33 years old and from the UK. In the drama "SHOGUN" produced and starring Sanada Hiroyuki, he played the role of one of the main cast, Priest Martin Alvid, and attracted attention.
"Bakebake" is the story of a couple who love "ghost stories" together with their foreign husband, and who shed light on the "nameless people" who had been buried in Meiji Japan as Westernization progressed, and who spoke on their behalf. The script will be written by Mitsuhiko Fujiki, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Relaxed Life" and WOWOW's "Shooting Holiday Series." Asadora is currently airing "Omusubi" starring Kanna Hashimoto, and in the first half of fiscal 2025, "Anpan" starring Mio Imada will be aired.
