It has been announced that the TV anime "Welcome to Japan, Elf-san," based on the light novel from HJ Novels (Hobby Japan), will begin airing in January 2025 on MBS, TBS and other late-night anime slots in the "Animeism" time slot. A key visual featuring Marie, an elf spirit magician, and others in autumn attire has also been released.
Additional cast members have also been announced, including Uchiyama Yumi and Sasaki Riko, who will appear in the series. Uchiyama will play the giant dragon Uridora, and Sasaki will play Myui, a cat-tribe child.
Uchiyama commented, "The intercultural exchange between Marie, an elf summoned from another world, and the main character, Kazuhiro, is depicted in a warm and cozy atmosphere, and it is a wonderful work filled with kindness and healing. The Uridora that we meet in the story is a legendary magical dragon, but he is a very humorous and fun character, and he loves alcohol just like me! (laughs). I have a lot in common with Uridora, so I hope you will look forward to the broadcast." Sasaki said, "It's a heart-warming work, full of love. You'll feel like you're on an adventure together, going back and forth between the fantastical other world of dreams and the wonderful Japan of the real world! And all the food that appears looks delicious...! This work inspired me to take up cooking as a hobby! The cat-type character I'll be playing, Miu, is... just adorable!!!!!! Be sure to be soothed by the brave and fluffy Miu that you'll just want to pet! Look forward to the broadcast!"
It was also announced that Sasaki, who will be playing Miu, will be in charge of the opening theme, "Palette Days." VTubers and virtual live streamer group Nijisanji members Higuchi Kaede and Kanae will be in charge of the ending theme, "Yummy Yummy."
The work is a light novel written by Makishima Suzuki and illustrated by Yappen. A romantic comedy fantasy about a young man named Kazuhiro who has the mysterious ability to travel to other worlds in his dreams, and an elf girl named Marie who came to modern Japan after a certain incident. They travel between their worlds, battling monsters and conquering dungeons while enjoying the scenery and gourmet food of Japan. The manga adaptation is also gaining popularity.
The anime is directed by Kitahata Toru and produced by Zero G.
