It has been revealed that idol group Sakurazaka46's Matsuda Rina and Morita Hikaru will be singing the ending theme "Pikkaaan!" for the new chapter of the Pokémon TV anime series, Chapter 4, "Rayquaza Rising."
The song is produced by Giga & TeddyLoid, the duo of TeddyLoid and Giga, who also produced singer Ado's "Odoru," and the lyrics are being written by popular Vocaloid producer DECO*27 (Deconina), which has also attracted attention. It was also announced that illustrator Mochizuki Kei will be in charge of the CD jacket illustration, bringing together the best music producers, the best illustrators, and the best idols.
Matsuda commented, "Giga and TeddyLoid's 'Pikkaaan!' has a catchy melody and lyrics that are full of the goodness of Pokémon, and it was a lot of fun to sing it. This song is what made me fall in love with Pokémon! I think it's a song that will please our fans who always support us, and it's sprinkled with points that Pokémon fans will enjoy, so I hope you'll find them while singing along!" Morita said, "I've always loved Pokémon, and I've been involved in various jobs up until now, but I never thought that the day would come when I would be able to sing the ending theme for the Pokémon anime. It was like a dream, and I was really happy. I recorded it with attention to detail so that both Sakurazaka46 fans and Pokémon fans could enjoy it. I think it's an ending theme that can be enjoyed even after the anime has ended, so I hope that people will listen to it a lot and love it a lot." The new series of the Pokémon TV anime will begin airing in April 2023. Set in the entire Pokémon world, the series follows the adventures of the protagonists, a young girl named Riko and a young boy named Roy, as they embark on a spree with their Pokémon. It will air on TV Tokyo every Friday at 6:55 p.m. The new chapter began with the broadcast on October 11th.
