The 62nd All Japan Model Hobby Show, a model exhibition, was held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo) from October 11th to 13th. At the Bandai Spirits booth, new and popular Gunpla (plastic models) from the popular anime series Gundam were all on display. Here are some of the Gunpla that attracted attention at the exhibition.
◇G Gundam celebrates its 30th anniversary
It has been announced that the Shining Gundam Gunpla "RG 1/144 Shining Gundam" will be released as a new product for Mobile Fighter G Gundam, which is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The God Gundam Gunpla "RG 1/144 God Gundam", released in 2022, was a hot topic for its widest range of motion in history and its human-like movements, but the Shining Gundam also seems to have a wide range of motion. The series is gaining more and more popularity with the start of the new spin-off part 2, "Hero Metamorphosis," and future developments, including Gunpla, figures, and merchandise, are sure to be of interest.
◇Justice in a Z'Gok!
The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series also has a wide selection of Gunpla, with the movie version, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, breaking the 5 billion yen mark in box office revenue. The announcement that the Sword Impulse Gundam Spec II will be released as the RG 1/144 Sword Impulse Gundam Spec II from the RG series was also a hot topic. The Gunpla features a striking red color scheme, and details will be announced in the future.
The Z'Gok Gunpla from SEED FREEDOM, the HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.), was also on display. Although the Gunpla was announced at the 62nd Shizuoka Hobby Show in May, the full details have now been revealed and it is attracting renewed attention.
In the movie, the Z'Gok appeared as a temporary form to hide the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2 piloted by Athrun Zala. It was also a hot topic when Athrun appeared riding on the Z'Gok and the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2 emerged from inside.
The shape of the Z'Gok Gunpla's internal frame imitates the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2, and you can choose to incorporate parts of the separately sold "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2". The head of the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2 and other parts were exhibited incorporated into the Z'Gok. It's a Gunpla that we can't wait to see released in February 2025.
◇"Phantom of the Silver and Gray" and "Requiem of Revenge" too
The Gunpla "HG 1/144 Delta Zain", the "silver Gundam" Delta Zain that appears in the VR video "Mobile Suit Gundam: Phantom of the Silver and Gray", was also unveiled. Delta Zain is a modified Delta Plus. Its shiny silver body has been beautifully reproduced. The flight form was also on display, and it appears to have a transformation gimmick, but details have not yet been announced.
It was also announced that new products for Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem of Revenge, which will be available on Netflix from October 17th, will include the HG 1/144 Zaku II F-type LeShon's and Unidentified Zaku II LeShon's (Requiem of Revenge) and the HG 1/144 Zaku II F-type Chubs' and Kayle's + Unidentified Zaku II Solari's Reproduction Parts Set (Requiem of Revenge). The mobile suits that appear in the film are attractive for their high-density details, drawn in full CG, and they appear to be reproduced in Gunpla models as well.
