The NHK morning drama series "Omusubi" starring Hashimoto Kanna will be broadcasting its second week, "What's a Gal?" on the 9th episode on October 10th.
Yui (Hashimoto) is cheering on her childhood friend Koga Yota (Sugao Araki), who is also a student at Itoshima Higashi High School, at a baseball game with her calligraphy club seniors Kazami (Matsumoto Reo) and Emi (Nakamura Moriri).
In the bottom of the 9th inning, with the score tied at 3-3, Itoshima Higashi High School is on the offensive. With no outs and the bases loaded, and a chance to win with one hit, the opposing team, Fukuoka Nishi High School, changes pitchers. Then, when Yui sees the relief pitcher, she realizes that she's seen him somewhere before.
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" about a heroine born in 1989 who, with a "gal spirit" that values being true to herself at all times, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist. It is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Honest Real Estate," among others.
