TV Asahi's new program "Udo Times" (Sundays 8:56 p.m.), hosted by freelance announcer Udo Yumiko, will begin on October 6th. The program takes over from "Sunday Station," which ended after about seven and a half years, and the station bills it as "a completely new and creative news and information program that aims to be the ultimate entertainment." Based on the concept of "entertaining viewers on Sunday nights," the show will deliver news, sports, entertainment, weather, and major features.
The first episode, titled "Nasu D Adventure," will see Udo team up with TV Asahi director Tomoyose Takahide, better known as "Nasu D," to explore the "Grand Circle," an area in the United States that is full of breathtaking and mysterious scenery.
The Grand Circle is an area where national parks and natural monuments are concentrated within a huge circle with a diameter of about 460 kilometers. Udow will explore the geological strata formed over 190 million years, distinctive steep rock faces, marble-colored bedrock, and more, experiencing the dynamic life of the earth while approaching its mysterious form.
The news corner will report on the latest developments in domestic politics with the dissolution of the Diet and general elections looming, as well as the latest developments in the US presidential election, with just one month left, along with live coverage from the site. TV Asahi's political department official, Chijiwa Morio, and semi-regular commentator (irregular appearances) Tamagawa Toru will appear in the studio to explain each news item.
The first episode will be a 15-minute extended special, airing from 8:56 pm to 10:30 pm.
