The drama series "Beach Boys," which was broadcast on Fuji TV in 1997 and co-starred actors Sorimachi Takashi and Takenouchi Yutaka, will begin airing on October 1st in the station's rebroadcast slot "Happy Hour" (Kanto local, weekdays 1:50pm-3:45pm) (the first episode will be broadcast from 2:15pm on the 1st).

This is to commemorate the broadcast of the drama series "Okura: Unsolved Case Investigation" (Fuji TV, Tuesdays 9pm, the first episode extended by 15 minutes), which co-stars Sorimachi and Sugino Yosuke, which starts on October 8th. This will be Sorimachi's first starring role in a drama series on the same station in 20 years.

"Beach Boys" is about Sakurai Hiromi (Sorimachi), who has nowhere to go after being dumped by his girlfriend, and Suzuki Kaito (Takenouchi), who falls off the elite track after making a mistake at work. The two people, who should never have met, head to a place with a view of the sea for a short rest, and when they encounter each other, they end up at a rundown guesthouse with the same sea view, "Diamond Head."

Hiromi ends up staying at this guesthouse, which is run by the seemingly strict elderly owner Izumi Masaru (Mike Maki) and his granddaughter Makoto (Hirosue Ryoko), and forces himself to take a part-time job, while Kaito begins to spend his days off at his own pace. Just as Kaito begins to get used to Hiromi's carefree and active pace, Masaru announces that he is closing down the guesthouse. The two return to the city separately, and Makoto feels left behind. "The sea is the best after all!" Hiromi and Kaito end up returning to the guesthouse... and so the story unfolds.

Sorimachi was 23 years old at the time, Takenouchi was 26, and Hirosue was 17. Other cast members include Yuki Akimoto, Kaori Tsuji, Sachie Hara, Masaomi Hiraga, Isao Takeno, Daijiro Kawaoka, Hitomi Sato, and Izumi Inamori. The script was written by Yoshikazu Okada, and the producers were Chihiro Kameyama and Ichiro Takai. The theme song is "Forever" by Takashi Sorimachi with Richie Sambora. The series is currently streaming on FOD.
