The variety show "Chance no Jikan" (Sundays at 11 PM) on ABEMA, hosted by the comedy duo "Chidori," featured a new segment on March 22nd titled "A Spartan Lecture of Love for Single Comedians: That's Why You're No Good!" in which married comedians who champion marriage as "justice" give loving lectures to single comedians.
Noda-chan, a 50-year-old solo comedian who appeared as part of a group of married comedians, made headlines last year when he married a woman 15 years his junior who was formerly an employee of Watanabe Entertainment. When he revealed that he does the housework himself and that he and his wife are happily married, Chidori were surprised, saying, "That's unexpected!" as it was a stark contrast to the vulgar character he portrays on the show.
Noda-chan continued, "I'm a dependent of my wife," he confessed. A caption then explained, "This refers to people whose income is below a certain amount (e.g., an annual income of 1.3 million yen) being placed under the family's insurance and tax framework to receive financial assistance," which surprised everyone in the studio.
