It has been revealed that the movie version of the anime "Overlord" based on the light novel by Maruyama Kugane, "Overlord: The Movie - Holy Kingdom Arc," has made over 716 million yen in box office revenue in the 10 days since its release on September 20th. It has been a hit, attracting over 440,000 viewers.
"Overlord" depicts the story of an unattractive young man who is transported to a world that resembles a popular online game, where he reigns as a great wizard in the form of a skeleton. The first season of the TV anime aired from July to September 2015, the second from January to April 2018, the third from July to October 2018, and the fourth from July to September 2022.
The movie will animate the "Holy Kingdom Arc," which is also popular in the original work. This is the first completely new movie in the series, and following the TV series, it will be directed by Ito Naoyuki and produced by Madhouse.
