It has been announced that a movie version of the TV anime "My Dangerous Girlfriend," based on the popular manga by Norio Sakurai currently being serialized on Akita Shoten's manga site "Manga Cross," will be produced. The movie version is a special edited version of the TV anime with new footage, and will also depict what happens to Ichikawa Kyotaro and Yamada Anna "afterwards." To commemorate the production of the movie version, an illustration drawn by the original author, Sakurai, was also released.
"My Dangerous Girlfriend" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten) in 2018, and is currently being serialized in "Manga Cross." It is a youthful romantic comedy about Ichikawa Kyotaro, an introverted boy in the midst of his chuunibyou syndrome, and Yamada Anna, a beautiful, outgoing girl who is at the top of the school's social hierarchy. It has been ranked in the men's edition of "This Manga is Amazing!" for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021, and won first place in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2020" in 2020, gaining popularity. The total number of copies of the comics published is over 5.5 million.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2023, and the second season from January to March 2024 on TV Asahi's late-night anime slot "NUMAnimation."
